Modern Garden Décor: Fusion Style
I don’t know about you, but when spring comes and we start preparing for the hot summer days, I always get inspired to play with different colors and styles. I recently read an article about the new innovative style approach in decoration, called fusion. Apparently, it is a mixture of different design influences, from Modernism to the Mediterranean, from formal to conceptual. What I loved the most is that there are no rules here. You can combine styles and trends from a wide range of fields. Fusion invites you to get out of the box, break the rules, design with confidence and only think of how to best please yourself.
One of the main characteristics of the fusion decoration style includes playing with bold and vibrant colors, especially when decorating gardens, where you can add large plants or play with different textures and color combinations of pots and containers to reinforce the employed stylistic concepts. Some of the more often used plants, mainly for their sculptural qualities, are grasses, Yucca and Astelia, or palms, which are used for their height.
The fusion gardens are also characterized with different material combinations, from natural stone surfaces mixed with concrete and wood, to those that aren’t traditionally used in gardening, like glass, steel and plastic. To make a natural connection between these hard surfaces and the colorful plants, this style uses rendered walls, ceramics, paving and spectacular lighting, as a key style device. For more movement, sound and relaxation in the garden, cascades, fountains and mist sprays are a must. Even the outdoor furniture placed in the garden is made of different material combinations to express the influencing architectural references, or to introduce lively and rich colors in its design.
If you are tired of sticking to the well-known fixed decorating styles, let loose on your creativity and try the fusion.
